Connect external hard drive to new MacBook Pro

Hi all,

I have an old Iomega external hard drive and used to connect it to my 2009 MacBook Pro via a FireWire 800 cable, obviously I can't connect it to the new MacBook Pro in the same way. Is there any way I can connect it to the new MacBook Pro with an adapter maybe?

I'm a bit confused with all these new connection types

likely there will never be a TB3/USBC to Firewire adapter. you are stuck getting something like this,

Thanks for the reply. It has 2 other connection types on the back possibly USB B being one of them, not sure if I could connect via that with an adapter cable?

that is probable a mini B jack. so a cable like this would work for that,

I just found a mini b to USB a lead and used the USB a to c adapter and it works great.

You can with two dongles and it will be faster than USB 2. Get the Apple USB-C to TB2 adapter and the TB2 to FireWire 800 adapter.
