iPad connect ipad to tv

Hi, is there anyway to connect the ipad to a hd tv through wifi without using apple tv ? If not, what is the most reliable method of connecting an ipad with 30 pin dock with a tv with a hdmi port ?

You. N still get the adaptor kit which gives you an HDMI port. You then connect a standard HDMI cable to your TV and your good to go...I used one with my iPad 1 and it worked perfectly.
