Is that what I need to connect my MBP to a hdmi tv?
 
I was able to just plug an HDMI cable into the side of my rMBP to my HDTV and it recognized it immediately. You'll need a thunderbolt-HDMI adapter for the MBP. The only thing I had to configure was to go into the audio settings on the rMBP and switch the audio from internal speakers and send it to the TV. 🙂
