Would I be able to connect a PS4 to a 27" with Retina 5K Display? If so what would I need and what issues might I run into? iMac system specs are as follows:

Precessor:3.3GHz Intel Core i5
Memory:8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 MB

Thanks.

i'm sure you can connect it because there are cables for everything. but nothing will happen. you cannot use the imac as a monior. now, if you're male, you will ask the same question again in a slightly different way because you don't like the answer i just gave. go ahead, try it. we don't mind.

The issue you would face is that the iMac 5K doesn't accept visual input, even if you somehow obtain a special PS4 with a Thunderbolt port. The option to using an iMac in Target Display Mode won't return until Thunderbolt 3 ships.

According to the video below, you can connect a PS4 by The Avermedia Extremecap u3 to an iMac.
Also, you should check out the description of the video.

Btw, I couldn't try it yet, just searched for your answer before.

As far as I can tell that in no way supports a 5K screen and the 5K iMac doesn't have the ability to be used as a screen due to the nature of the solution apple used to get a 5K screen to work in the first place when there was no standard for it at release.

Is this person's answer sexist?

The title of the embedded video is, "Play PS4 on iMac Retina 5k display", which seems to wholly refute your argument.

But the specs on that device don't support even 4K resolution let alone 5K so whats the point....

The point is that you can connect an PS4 to an iMac 5k and have fun with it, if you don't any room or extra cash for another display. For instance, anyone who wants to play Uncharted 4 (or any "PS4" game) in a small office/room can do that with this config at least at 1080p 60fps.

Also, there is nothing about getting 5k or 4k res. from PS4 by 5k iMac in the questions. Question is simply about connecting PS4 to an 5k iMac. So, the answer is "Yes, it is possible to connect PS4 to 27" with Retina 5K Display under some circumstances. If you ok with 1080p 60 fps that is a way."

Now, please write about connecting PS4 to an iMac 5k somehow, if you know something. Otherwise it doesn't help anyone at all...

Fair enough I was wrong no need to get your knickers in a twist about it, I never checked the video I just checked the specs of that box and thought it doesn't support 5K or even 1440p, but as you say people may find it useful.
