Connected but no answer

Hi just experienced something strange.. I rang a landline number from my iPhone 5... The screen said it had connected and the timer was going up but I heard no reply from the other end. I hung up and rang back this time the call was picked up and they said the phone never rang the first time... Yet my call log says it lasted 12 seconds!! Has this happened to anyone else

Seems like a connection glitch. Happens randomly here and there all the time really.
