Connecting 2 Networks?

Alrighty...

My friend and I are looking to play a game using the game's LAN multiplayer feature... however, the two computers aren't in the same building or on the same network. Is there a way for us to 'connect' the two networks? His house is about two houses down the street.

Also, the game is cross-platform... I have the Mac version and he has the PC version so this would have to be a Mac & Windows idea.

Lastly, I realize that this isn't really necessary - it's super easy to walk my laptop down the street, it's just more of a curiosity thing.

I suggest that you try Hamachi.

The HamachiX frontend has worked well for me in OS X.

I had some hope you'd do this research.

Assuming that you can't run a physical wire down the block the next best thing is a "virtual wire" or "VPN"

THen after reading above google for "mac vpn" (no quotes) for software you can use at your end.
