    Hey guys, wassup!

    So here's the deal.

This weekend i end up with my father's LG dvd/hdd recorder. What i recall it has 80Gb of hdd. My idea was to connect it to the t.v and the iMac. The iMac part was basicaly to transfer the movies to the LG hdd

This is the model: LG RH7500

    And the connections specs:

    SCART Connectors: Output x 2
    Outputs: Composite x 1, Component x 1, Analog Audio x 1, Digital Audio Coaxial x 1, Digital Audio Optical x 1
Front Panel: Composite Input / S-Video Input / iLINK DV Input

I've been searching the online apple store for cables and saw some, but don't know if this is possible to do, and if it is, what cables i have to buy.

PS: about the dvd/hdd recorder model, i don't know if this is the one, i have to get home to make sure. will post it here later.

    Thanks dudes!

PS2: probably many of you will say "- why don't get apple tv, or another multimedia hdd." That's easy, shoooooooort of money lolol, this way i recycle what i have, later i might put a bigger hdd. time will tell.

It has only video and audio outputs so you can't transfer data directly from iMac's HD to its HD. It may be possible to burn something on DVD and then put it in the recorder and record it to its HD or connect your iMac to the TV and play a movie and record it at the same time into the recorder's HD.

In my opinion, the best option is to grab some DVDs and burn the movies he want into DVDs and watch them as normal DVDs.

    That changes the case :p

It makes this theoretically possible. Read the manual of the DVD recorder and check does the USB port support data transfer from computer. You may have to call LG about that though, I doubt there is anything on the manual about that. Also, ask what file formats does it support.

Another option if the USB doesn't work is to take the HD out of it and plug it to iMac and transfer movies into it.

Are you sure it is mini USB and not 4-pin Firewire (as described in your OP)?

like i said previously the dvd/hdd model might not be the one i post it, later i will put the correct one here.

I will check the manual for data transfer (fingers crossed) with the mini usb imput :D and for i can remember the one i have has more inputs

I will check it later, but i'm pretty sure that is mini usb. would it be better if it was 4pin-firewire?

As you have said in your OP, the 4-pin Firewire is a DV-IN, so it should be of no use, unless the Firewire port is capable of DV-OUT, which sometimes can be accomplished even if it isn't officially documented.

Ok i have the manual in front of me.

And spinnerlys, yes, my dvd/hdd recorder has a 4pin firewire input, and i've found already a 2pin firewire to usb cable. And on the manual mentions only to connect a DV Digital Camcorder, BUT, it says that it is to use to "transfer DV tapes do DVD", and, "use a DV cable to connect de DV in/out jack...", and finely "this jack is for connection do DV digital camcorder only. it is not compatible with digital satellite tuners or D-VHS video decks"....soo, it does not mention "not compatible with PC" lolol or MAC for that matter.

So guys what do you say about that?

I would call LG and ask or just buy that cable and try it. It's hard to say is it capable or not
