    This is the setup:
I have a Sony receiver with HDMI input and output.
It's connected to my HP W2408 trough a HDMI to DVI connector.

Because I don't like to switch the cables all the time I've connected my MBP with VGA at a 1920x1200 resolution
But when I'm playing video or I'm working in Sketchup the screen doesn't always follows the movements on the display. There is a slight delay.

So I'd like to use DVI again for the video output without downgrading it to VGA.

If I start with DVI on my MBP, switch it to HDMI, connect it to the Sony Receiver with the video-data going trough the Sony device with an HDMI output, converted back to DVI and is finally connected to my HP display.
Would I still have a good image quality, or more important, does this work?

The quality of the image should remain as long as the receiver itself is good (ie you won't lose bits through the receiver). The cable conversions would not cause an image degradation since we're talking about digital signals here.

To answer the more important question, it should work! Give it a shot and let us know how it goes :)
