Connecting a Nintendo Switch to an Apple Cinema Display with a mDP

Sorry if this has already been answered for people with a similar setup. I have a 2010 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display, equipped with a Mini DisplayPort connector with audio support. I would like to connect a Nintendo Switch to it (or possibly in the future other HDMI devices). Can anyone advise if this is possible and what adapter should I get for best results? Will it carry both the 1080p video AND audio? Thank you very much.

I use this to plug into my 27" Dell Mac Monitor - works a treat although I use the Switch headphone jack to carry the audio to my speaker system. Zero issue with quality of picture or lag and its easily portable but just remember it needs some power...

ah sorry I thought you just meant an HDMI output.
