I used Time Capsule to connect external HDD via USB port and play movies on TV using Apple TV and Infuse app.

Unfortunately that Time Capsule is in another country where I live and here in my another apartment I have Linksys Velop routers with no USB ports, so I cannot connect HDD. I can connect HDD directly to the TV, but then I have to use LG native app, which I don't like.

Any ideas how can I play videos from the external HDD on TV? I have Apple TV 4K here too.

You need to share the external on your local network, so just some options off the top of my head.

Connect the external to a PC or Mac and share the drive on the network.

Raspberry Pi sharing the external on the network.

On of those cheap NAS type devices like a Pogoplug to connect to the network and then connect to your USB too.

An actual NAS like Synology or Qnap. This would give you storage on your network and a place to plug in an external (or transfer the data to the NAS).

The easiest solution would be to buy one of these and hook up your HD to your iPhone/iPad. Airplay them to the apple tv using the iOS infuse app.

I've connected my HDD to my iPad, but I don't see how to add it in Infuse iOS app?

Oh I see, its via Documents option.

Ok, this is not bad, but I still prefer to have HDD connected to my router so I can easily watch movies without ios device + hdd in my hands.

Thanks for the solution.
