Connecting iphone to Internet via laptop

Hello, my iPhone has had a little shampoo damage.

It keeps coming up as "searching" and will nto connect to 3G or Wifi, although it has detected my Wifi (and others in range). I was wondering if there was a way to connect to the Internet on the phone via my laptop, or from the router directly?

As far as I know, your phone has to grapple onto what service is available. Not really the other way around.
