I love my new Macbook, it runs Photoshop and Painter way faster than my old G5 iMac, but the small monitor can get a bit annoying, especially when trying to paint on larger canvases. I want to use my old Mac as an external monitor, but I'm not sure what type of cables I need to get.
Both the Macbook and iMac have a mini DVI port, but I've searched and can't find a mini DVI-to-mini DVI cable anywhere.

How can I do this? What kid of cable(s?) do I need?

    Thanks.

I believe that the mini-dvi ports on both the iMac and Macbook are used for output only. I don't see any conventional way to use an iMac as an external display. I'm sure you could rig up some sort of contraption to output into one format, convert with a box, and input through USB, but it's probably cheaper (and better) to just pick up an inexpensive LCD monitor.

Aww lame. I was sure it could be done ; [

Oh well. I guess I'll be selling my old iMac and buying a new monitor.

    Thanks.
