Hello ppl! I’m trying to connect my m2 iPad Pro to my phones cellular data but it won’t work for some reason??? All I get is “No Internet Connection” in small yellow words below the devices name. I have a Wi-Fi only model, could this be why hotspot isn’t working???

Thanks in advance!

So, you can connect to the hotspot, choosing it from the list of available networks, and it connects but shows that there’s no internet. That’s an issue with the phone’s hotspot data connection. Have you ever used this phone as a hotspot before? Have you connected this iPad to a wi-fi network before?

Hmm… I connected my hotspot to my computer a few times and it worked.
Does the computer get internet on the phone hotspot now? If yes, then connect the iPad to the hotspot again and try turning wi-fi off, then back on. Reboot the ipad, etc. If that doesn’t work, where you see the hotspot network name, there’s a little blue “i” in a circle that opens the settings for that wifi connection. Try it with private wi-fi address off, see if that works. Or toggle it back on and try toggling IP from automatic to manual and back again, stuff like that fixed the same issue for me once. I had to fuss around with all this once when I restored an iPad and it wouldn’t connect to my network. I think it was the private ip toggle off, then on that fixed mine.

Ok this is really strange. I turned the private IP on and off and the yellow words below my devices name disappeared. But when I open chrome I still can’t connect to the web. And yes I tried restarting my iPhone and my iPad.

Thanks in advance!

Also I connected my hotspot to my PC a few hrs ago and it worked.

This might be a carrier thing, but I frequently lose internet on my hotspot even though it’s connected. I’ll toggle Airplane mode on and off on the iPhone and once it reconnects to the cellular network I’ll get data again. Sometimes I even have to toggle Hotspot off and back on in settings.

Figures. MetroPCS is garbage hehe.

As for the previous comment, yes I tried resetting network. Did that earlier with Apple support but nothing happened.

Hazy memory, but I think that I once changed the name of the iPhone, (which changes the name of the network) and that helped when I couldn’t get a device to connect, but who knows, if you’ve already exhausted Apple Support and are still trying stuff.

How did u change the name of the device???

Do you use a VPN or Private Relay on your iPad? If so, perhaps try turning them off to see if it helps.

FWIW, I regularly tether my iPhone 12 mini to iPad Air 4 (both running 16.4.1) without any issues.

Just wanted to chime in that I regularly tether my Ipad Pro Gen 3 to my 14 PM with zero problems. I often stream Celtics or Bruins Games just to use the larger screen while out. Try a forced restart on the iphone and ipad (volume up, volume down, hold power button until you see the Apple logo ignoring all onscreen prompts).
