Connecting my iBook to a Dell

Hi,

I would like to connect my iBook to my dell and transfer photos, because I'm gonna erase my hard drive and Install Tiger. I kno I can just upgrade,but I wanna start over my computer.


Do I use a enthernet wire? What software do I use??

You could boot it up, holding the "t" key and connect it to your pc using firewire, where it should recognise it as a hard drive.

Target disk mode won't work with anything less than OS 8.6, and certainly not with Windows.

I'm not sure if a Mac booted up in Target Disk Mode would work as a hard drive on a Windows PC, but I do know that most WinPCs can't read Mac formatted hard drives. So most likely, TDM won't work.

Ethernet cable is the cheapest option. Personally, I would burn CDs and/or DVDs. That way, you have a physical back-up that's not on magnetic media. Heck, if you have the time, do both. Better safe than sorry.
