Connecting to ITunes

I have a IPhone 8+ that I cannot get to connect to ITunes nor connect to or charge from the computer. I have watched so many bogus Utube videos that I gave up. I also couldn't get it to go into DFU mode nor be "recognized" by either ITunes or computer. At this point, I have to charge up phone from wall outlet. Could use some valid, sound advice!! I would prefer getting the phone into DFU mode and reset it. Perhaps, then, it will be "recognized" by both ITunes and the computer.

THANX:

Rick

Using a PC that runs Win10. I did D/l ITunes but all it would say was: "Divice attached but not recognized"

Are you using the latest version of iTunes? Also what version of iOS is your 8+ running?

Ans. #1 Yes Ans.#2 12.0 Look, I mean no offense, but let's don't be playing mail-tag. I do understand the need for the information you requested, however, this has solved nothing. I'll post this for everyone and hope that we can move in a positive direction. It's a IPhone 8+. ios ver. 12, locked screen, doesn't charge when on computer, computer nor ITunes "recognizes" the phone. Was employing latest ver. of ITunes. If I could get it to be "recognized", then I could solve all the problems simply by resetting everything ( I believe). I either need to #1 figure out how to get ITunes to recognize the phone or #2 figure out how to have the computer recognize the phone. And, if this means anything, I've spent an awful lot of time going through the videos on youtube...most of which are a scam and so far, none have applied to this phone.

THANX ALL!

ADDENDUM: Forgot to mention; I also cannot get the phone to enter into DFU mode nor get to screen "connect to ITUNES"

Yes, I understand that you've probably did this already, but just to verify, you've tried another cable/direct USB ports/another computer, right?

Regarding ideas, check VPN/ad-blockers on both computer and phone (system-wide like AdGuard, not just browser extensions). They can block pairing and won't allow iTunes recognize your device.

Bit this won't explaing Recovery/DFU mode issues... Any chance that you have some supervision profile?

Yeah, I've tried about anything/everything that I could find that is supposed to be relevant to this particular model. That said, it doesn't mean much because SO much on the web sites and youtube are just trogs spouting off and are either intentionally trying to screw things up or, in most of the cases, just trying anything to make a few bucks from youtube and they really don't have a clue. Now, to answer your question " Any chance that you have some supervision profile?" I do not recall setting up any such "supervision profile", but that doesn't mean that I inadvertently did something I was unaware of when setting up the phone. I know, that sounds confusing. But I think you know that sometimes, certain programs you install are not very clear on ALL the operations they perform (???) IF there is a supervision profile (I'm not even sure what any of those would be) then I'm not aware of it. Appreciate you weighing in on the subject!

Here's about supervision. If it's not the case, go to Apple Store/Repair shop and ask to check the lightning port. It can be enough for charging but not connection. Also you can try to clean it with a toothpick, but very carefully. Dust can do many weird things.

Cleaning the Lightning port is probably on his unpublished list of "about anything/everything that I could find". Good idea, though.

Wish to THANK YOU both for your contributions to this thread!! First, let me remind you that I cannot get past the "lockscreen". Second: I do not recall having any such notice published on the phone prior to it "locking". (in regard to Minorite's suggested link) As far as cleaning the phones port; good suggestion and I will do so but with alcohol/cue tip instead of toothpick. It does seem very strange (to me) that I can charge it from a wall outlet yet it won't connect to a comp!(?) Which, if I could get it to connect to comp/ITunes I'm fairly certain I could remedy it's problem. Anyone know of a way to completely "wipe" the phone so that I may be able to just start over? but yet again, I think that would only be possible IF I could get the phone to connect to the comp. Any thoughts?
