connecting to yahoo and flickr

    i am having a very strange issue. i am running osx 10.8.1 and all updates but cannot get on to flickr or yahoo. the DNS seems fine as i can connect on other laptops and iPhones. i tried the MTU fix and location "hack".

    i have also tries Firefox as well as safari

    any ideas anyone. i have added look up and ping below, thanks

    Try Resetting the DNS cache:
    Use the following Terminal command to reset the DNS cache:

    sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

    Hmm, that's the extent of my DNS tricks, sorry.

    it does not look like a DNS issue.

    i can ping them and get a reply but cannot connect to the websites.

    Good point, and other devices can connect just fine.
    Any clues in the system log? Something that stands out.

    cannot see anything.

    it looks like it is any site owned by yahoo

    I tested Flickr and yahoo from my system both work.
    Maybe a yahoo and issue since they also own Flickr.

    only had this error since the fresh install of ML.

    I am not sure why only those sites would not work. Do you run any firewall or any type of software that would block web sites?

    it was an app called peer guardian. i just noticed it running at the top. stupid
