I have Leopard with the 10.5.1 patch. On one account (of 4), I am unable to browse the web. I can ping web sites and get a response, but if I do something like curl http://www.bbc.co.uk/index.html I get couldn't connect to host.
If I su to from this account to another account and launch the browser, I can browse.
I did have parental control set on this account, but only the filter adult content setting plus time limits. Turning this off seemed to make no difference until I logoff - then I can browse. As soon as I turn on parental control again it fails (even if I have it set to the default, which allows access to all sites). So, there's obviously some garbage causing problems.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I try next?
Many thanks
Paul.
