friends, i have connected my magic mouse 1 with m1 macbook pro and its working perfectly, i tried connecting magic keyboard with numeric keypad for the first time, i have connected it by lightning cable and it start working perfectly, but as i unplugged, it was showing in bluetooth but not connected so i right clicked on it and pressed connect, but it says connection rejected, i tried turning the bluetooth off snd then on and same on magic keyboard but still the same issue, i am running monterey latest version, please help me thanks

did you remember to turn on the keyboard using the switch on the back edge? there are two magic keyboards in my house and the one already connected to another machine would cause a rejected connection. once i flipped the switch on the second keyboard, it showed up as a bluetooth device and connected with no issues

Yes i did switch on, and yes my keyboard was connected to my imac long time back around 4-5 years and after that never used this keyboard back since then and while connecting with m1 macbook my imac is turned off

The older Bluetooth had to disconnected from the last connection every single time! That was it’s rub all those years ago! So disconnect it from it’s last connection and then try pair it again!

Also you could remove the batteries for at least 25 minutes will reset it too!

I have just disconnected it from my iMac and removed it from Bluetooth list, i tried connecting with m1 macbook again but still showing the same error Connection Rejected,
Brother it doesnt have removable battery, if you can tell me any other way to reset the keyboard please let me know
Thanks

It appears macOS Monterey is very picky about Apple accessories being paired with more than one device.

On your iMac and any other Apple device you may have connected that keyboard to:

macOS
Apple said:
To unpair it, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth. Hover the pointer over the device you want to remove, then click the button
Cancel button
that appears next to the device's name. Turn the device off.

iOS/iPadOS
Open Settings, tap Bluetooth, if the keyboard is listed, tap (i) to the right of the name, then tap Forget This Device

If that does not work. Turn the keyboard on and check if it connects or can be connected to the iMac you were using the keyboard with previously. If so, next:

I have just checked in keyboard that if my Magic Keyboard is plugged in with lightning cable it was showing me 40% charged but as i disconnect the cable it disconnects from the bluetooth and when i again plugged in battery shows 3% charging, battery draining out instantly from 40% to 3%, if i plugged the keyboard and track pad with power outlet then it connectes my m1 macbook pro, its a issue of battery of the magic keyboard and track pad, i have not used them since 4-5 years and they were kept packed, what should i do to recover the battery issue?

I found this page which shows how to do a hard connect and pair of the keyboard:

Brother, i have followed all those steps but these are only for removing the previous connected device, now the issue is battery dropping from 100% to 3% as i disconnect the cable instantly, consulted apple and they dont have any resolution except visiting service center, if someone knows the rectification of this thing then will be highly appreciated

I have the same problem: it started yesterday, asfter restarting my MacMini. The connection to my wireless keyboard was rejected, it only works when I use the cable.

The weird thing is: I thought that maybe my (o;d) keyboard was faulty, so I grabbed a brand new, unused keyboard and tried to connect that: same problem. Then I tried to connect my old keyboard to my MacBook: same problem. All of them only work while on cable.

All my machines run Monterey 12.0.1

i'd start with updating to 12.2.X. lots of issues were addressed since 12.0.1. also, can the bluetooth system pref see the wireless keyboards?

Yes, they could.

I threw it out of my Bluetooth prefs, switched the keyboard on and off, and suddenly my Macmini recognised it. The odd thing is that it happeded with two different keyboards on two different machines...

Just had this happen to me. Also Apple Music has stopped syncing properly. No idea why on either count, as nothing in my setup has changed. Worked fine one day and not the next.

In the end, I switched off the keyboard and deleted it under System Preferences/BlueTooth, and then switcjed it bck on. It reappeared in Sytem Preferences, I connected. done.

On the other Macs you own, go to Settings --> Bluetooth and see which, if any, show the Magic keyboard in their list of BT devices which have been connected. Right-click on those and select to forget them.

I think Monterey is still a bug infested mess. I was having no issues with my MacBook Air M1 going into sleep mode until I connected my new Magic keyboard mini to it via BT. Afterwards the MacBook Air M1 would go into sleep mode but would wake up again within 30 seconds. I already had a BT Logitech MX2 Anywhere Mouse connected via BT. I tried everything to fix the not staying in sleep mode issue. Finally I thought to disconnect my Logitech MX2 Anywhere Mouse from BT and have the Mac forget it, then I connected it via a USB dongle instead. Sleep mode issue went away. I'm fairly sure that Apple has shanked the coding for BT, especially if you have multiple BT devices connected at the same time.

Couldn't figure this out but looking for nearby devices which could be interfering, noted that nearby iPadPro had both my mouse and keyboard connected even though I had not done that myself - maybe Monterey is trying to be too clever across devices?? Anyway, disconnected from iPad and it all connected as it should. Hope that helps.

I'm getting the same issue. Keyboard disconnects the moment I unplug, have tried all steps to rectify to no avail. The battery indicator in the System Preferences > Keyboard also seems to reset back to 3% every time I repair the keyboard. Can't tell if its a faulty keyboard, or buggy OS. OP, did you find a solution to this problem? If anyone else has found a solution, would be a lifesaver!

no solution till yet, only the way i found is to keep them connected with the Mac via cable only :(

I connected the keyboard to a wall outlet to test the BT, and it worked. However same issue, the moment I unplug it disconnects from the computer. Almost certain it is a faulty battery; will be returning mine.

here in the states, battery replacement on the built-in battery of the apple wireless keyboard is 29$

you might want to check what's available with the local apple service in your country.
