Consequences of Porting Numbers

My iphone is on back order currently but once it comes in i plan on porting my verizon phone number over. i was just wondering what is lost when i switch over? I would assume locked text messages will be lost, but what about voicemails that i have saved, will they be gone?

you're only transferring the number, not the data associated with it

Porting a number is just that, porting the telephone number only.

I ported my number from Verizon and had no issues. I don't even live in the city where the area code is from (needed to keep for business).
