I’m actually considering getting the Mini. I was wondering how all were planning to return the phones and update? Isn’t there a 14 day window? What phone will you be using in the meantime?
There is a 14 day window from the date you receive it. So for those who received the 12 Pro and 12 on 10/23/2020 have till 11/6/2020 to start the return process. Once you initiate the return process, it gives you additional 14 days as in the e-mail you get it will tell you when Apple needs to receive the phone by.

maybe not too close to the date 11/06. Cause remember during the time when every one starts to order 12pro, the apps got overloaded. This time when everyone ordering pro max, I believe there will be some one doing a return order as well. Double load...

I was but I bought a slim Pro Max case to check out the size and I don’t think I can handle it. Always had the plus size phones but with the flat sides i think it makes reaching the sides much harder. Much harder to use than my 7plus I still have around to compare. It’s a monster.

Well you can always return it and get the 12 Pro!

Yes better to do it on 11/5/2020 as a precaution.

I ordered the 12 Pro but am also thinking of returning it for the Pro Max (my first Max size phone). People now mentioned that you have an additional 14 days when you initiate the return process online to sending the phone back to Apple. Online, Apple says that I have until 11/11/2020 to start the return process (my phone arrived 10/28/2020), so I would then have until the 11/25/2020 to actually send it back?

My plan is to order the Max right on 11/06, hope it arrives 11/13 so I can test it side by side with my 12 Pro and then decide if I want to keep the 12 Pro or the Pro Max. Does this work? Can I still cancel the return process after I started it, if I decide to keep the normal 12 Pro?

If you initiate the return on 11/11/2020, you have 14 days from that date. So yes you have till 11/25/2020. However, I believe Apple needs to receive it by 11/25/2020. I have one item on return it it says Apple must receive it by 11/6/2020. So I would play it safe and send it a little earlier.

Well, orders placed directly with Apple Online Store have a 14 day return period indeed so I assume that people will just return them via mail as they came.
I'm just worried about this for anyone that upgraded through Apple with a carrier installment plan. They won't have time for the line they used to be reversed for eligibility to order again. When I canceled our Apple pre orders with ATT installments, it took ATT 3 days to reverse it and you can't order on those same lines until they are showing eligible again. I read on here that it took some 3-10 days to reverse it. It might be better to do the return directly at an Apple store days before pre order day.

This is what I would idealy like to do, if I can get a Pro Max order in for delivery within a reasonable time.

I have to say, I do feel a bit guilty for wanting to do this, but I doubt I'll be the only one doing so, and the staggered release of the sizes hasn't helped.

Its not a one hand phone which sucks, but its easier on my eyes which is the deciding factor. Part of the issue is that IOS does not do well with 1 handed gestures. Makes a lot of mistakes and triggers very close to the edge when it should not.
