Considering a Mac, some questions.

Apple doesn't make anything that is the equivalent of your FrankenPC. Unless you want a Mac Pro at about $12000, and that won't include a 42" screen....
Macs can play games, even Windows games with BootCamp, but they are not gaming PC's.

Yeah it sounds like the Macmini would be your best fir, also you have the added benefit of being able to turn it into a nice little media center with that 42" screen you have.

I got one of the new iMacs which is awesome and runs games pretty well but it will never do what your set up can do.

The only gaming capable macs are the high end expensive ones like the iMac with an ATi 4850 or the Mac Pro with a 4870. You can get a refurb Mac Pro with an 8800gt but its such an out dated card now.

Is a G5 capable of running leapard? I am looking at some Power Macs on ebay, dual 2ghz and higher machines with a couple gigs of ram and so on, seems you can get one of those for 500ish range. I know they can easily run eqmac, even 2 box on em from what I have read. Just want to make sure they can run the latest os smoothly.

I also went from a custom home built PC to a Mac. In my case my PC was getting ready for a refresh but I really wanted to play around with OS X as I was getting irritated to no end with Vista.

I started off with a Mac Mini to get my feet wet. Upgraded the RAM and HD on it and messed with it for a few weeks.

Then I ordered a 4850 equipped 24" iMac. The iMac is very fast in both OS X and Windows 7 RC1. I do some light gaming on the iMac too. It actually runs games reasonably well with the 4850 Radeon card.

My PC? Well, it's sitting in the basement. I literally haven 't powered it on one time since getting a Mac. I just prefer the OS X greatly over Windows.

About the biggest dose of Windows I can handle these days is Win 7 which I only have booted long enough for a couple of hours of Crysis or Fallout3.

I think you'd be far better off getting a Mac Mini to start off with vs. the G5.

Video cards become outdated very fast, considering the technology is changing at very fast rate. The nVidia GT 120 is a decent enough card to game on as well, depending on what kind of gaming you're doing, that is.

Very capable. I have an old iBook G4 1.33 GHZ with a FSB of 300 MHZ I believe? And that runs Leopard better than it can run Tiger.
