Considering a MacBook Pro Retina for college

Considering buying my first Macbook for college.

My local Best Buy has an open box 13" MacBook Pro Retina i5 / 8GB / 128GB for $1,259.99 and the store manager said he could apply a $100 off promotional coupon on top of that. Should I bite or no? I'm also just considering waiting for the Haswell Retina MacBook Pros

Also, if I do get this Macbook,what do you guys recommend as far as protection
plans/warranties from Best Buy?

Since you start college in the fall I'm assuming, I would just wait for haswell. What it did for the Air was incredible and while I don't know your situation I would assume you don't need it immediately.
