Got a MBP 14" recently, and with a student discount I can get AC+ for 269€ for 3 years or 109€/year, and I don't know yet which one I should go for. The 3 years plan is obviously cheaper per year, albeit not by much, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I live in the EU (if that changes anything) and I don't really plan on replacing my MBP anytime soon. If I go for the 3 years plan, will I be able to renew it indefinitely afterwards? Is price the only difference between the two?

Thanks.

Really up to you. Your lifestyle, finances, etc all play a part.

I’m not prone to breaking things and outside of my phone most gadgets stay safe in my house. The amount of money I save but not having AC could probably cover any damage I may get during the products lifespan. However, if it something happens sooner I may be out of luck so my financial security needs to be on point so I can accept that risk.

I always buy the AC for peace of mind. If the device gets broken I don't have to pay anything for 3 years.

If the device needs servicing you may end up paying a lot more than what you'd pay for he Apple Care.

Currently, AppleCare+ can only be extended in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK within Europe (obv all but the last within the EU). So it depends on where "in the EU" you are.

I'm in France! Thank you so much, that's the info I couldn't find.

I have never bought AC for any of my products, and never had a reason to use it on them either. My current Mac I bought used and it had leftover AC which is cool, but haven't used it so far and I am pretty careful with my stuff so haven't needed it yet.

I'd check within Apple in France, but in order to extend it AppleCare post that initial 3 year period, you need to either be on annual or monthly payments

Yes, the extension is always a "Subscription" plan. It's monthly for iPhone/iPad, and annual for Mac.
