Well what do you expect, Auto Union? All carriers say they cover a market, but they only cover 30% - 80% on launch (even your loved AT&T/Verizon duopoly do this too, don't worry.)
TMobile has gone on record to say that they launch at ~60%. Even that is super optimistic. Because I seriously doubt that 60% of Boston is done right now. Fenway still has zero LTE. I still get kicked down to EDGE by Back Bay. Brookline is still spotty.
Hell, Sprint has launched markets with less than 30% done.
The only reason why AT&T and Verizon supposedly cover the whole city now is because they have been deploying LTE for several years.
I bought a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket the day AT&T launched LTE in the US. (Boston and DC were their launch markets.)
I had LTE throughout the entire city. No holes in Fenway, Brookline, Back Bay, all the way out to Waltham, etc. I've been in markets (Hartford, Portland ME, Portsmouth NH, DC, etc) all over the Northeast right after they've gone up.
I've NEVER ONCE had an issue with AT&T or VZW leaving major parts of cities without LTE, after they've announced the expansion. Same can't be said for TMo or Sprint.
TMobile's HSPA network is STILL riddled with holes after almost 4 years of deploying. I'm not even going to get started on their LTE.
BUT...
Their terrible and expensive prices are what is causing customers to leave.
What can I say. You get what you pay for. If you're too cheap to pay for good service, you end up with crap.
----------
Around northeast AT&T beats Verizon by a lot.
Say from Washington DC to like Boston, LTE is plenty and FAST. Around Boston I've gotten 60mbps. I average 45mbps here in MD.
x2. I have both. AT&T wins hands down for overall network performance.
I can drive from Portland, Maine to DC and NEVER loose LTE service. It is deployed all the way down the coast.
TMobile? Patches of 4G and most highways are EDGE/GPRS. Pathetic.
