I agree with the 200k level in prior to 2019 years. The 2020 Budget (soon to be presented to congress does away with this.)

Can you provide a source? I've done a few Google searches and cannot find anything on the topic of ending EV tax credits universally except old speculation back from March 2019 which didn't pan out.

I was seriously considering an EV when I got my Prius Prime (plus-in Prius), what stopped me was that I make several 400 mile one way drives a year, ly plug-in, plus, I get to drive HOV lanes :)
Yes, you make the best use case for the plug-in hybrids versus the EV. I think if you have regular trips that are 200 miles plus one way, maybe even 150 miles, the plug-in could be the way to go. My wife inherited her dads house in Northern California which is about a 300 mile drive. Very few charging stations in between. And the damn drive is long enough without spending a extra hour charging Or worrying about where we need to stop. I bought a Niro PHEV and I love it as well.

my family moved to an urban neighborhood and i now keep to the city. Never drive into the suburbs. So its at max 11 miles to anything. I would consider an EV with my new driving requirements.

3y ago changed out the clutch on a honda with success. It was a life altering event tho. An electric car would be a lot of things good & bad but for sure it would have a lower parts count.

Having owned a Tesla Model 3 for 7 months now, there's absolutely no way I would ever purchase a hybrid or ice vehicle. Hybrids are, to me, a waste of money. You get partial benefit of the electric part, but you still have a gasoline engine to maintain.

I have the Standard Range +, which means I get around 240 miles per charge. We drove from Louisville KY to Jacksonville FL with 0 range anxiety because Tesla's navigation tells you where to stop to charge & how long it'll take to charge. This was before the update that increased the speed of charging, so we spent ~20-30 minutes at each stop. Yes, it increased our travel time, but we got out and walked around to stores and such. Arrived in Jax all fresh and relaxed.

We drove to the western part of Kentucky and stayed at my sisters house for Christmas. I plugged into her 30amp dryer outlet and while it was a lot slower than a supercharger, it did charge up while we slept.

Software updates are free, whereas Chevy charges around $150 to update their software on the Bolt, which you have to take to the dealership from what I was told by a local chevy dealership.

Tesla's battery technology is FAR superior to anyone else, and I hear that VW is investing in the Tesla Gigafactory in Germany with the option to purchase the battery skateboard from Tesla to make their own cars. I hope they do.

Tesla is having a Battery day in the next month or two, expect to hear an update on their battery technology.

Look at what is offered now and see where you can charge and how long it'll take.

Their supercharging network is 2nd to none. And you can use all the other charging stations out there, not just Tesla's.

Do I need to discuss Autopilot? it is by far an awesome thing to use especially while driving long distance, but even in local traffic it makes it much more relaxing.

The tax credits for Tesla is over because they have sold over 200,000 cars. The Model Y comes out this year, and it's expected to sell even more than the 3

Any questions you want to ask about Tesla, send me a message.

Oh, meant to add that you can lease a Tesla, but they want the model 3 back at the end of 3 years. Robo taxi is their goal.

Depending on local/state/federal regulations, it will give you advantages no other vehicles can give you: e.g., in México city, starting this year, unless you are driving an electric or hybrid vehicle, or your new car has a fuel efficiency of at least 15 km/liter-35.2 miles/gallon (less than 6.6 liters per 100 km, or 2.8 gallons per 100 miles), you won't be able to drive it daily, you will have to stop using it one or 2 days a week.

Next time I change vehicles, I'll get a BMW X3 plug-in Hybrid, that way I can drive every day.

I had a fully loaded Lexus ES350 for almost 10 years and it still runs great. In retrospect, the car is slightly too big and not as agile as I would like it to be but I do like level of comfort and quiet ride. I was thinking about new car but wanted it to have upgraded computing abilities. I hoped Apple's car project would materialize sooner rather than later but this seems to be still at least several years away. I was watching Tesla 3 and felt that it may have been rushed to marked but I do like idea of instant torque, quiet ride without ICE and especially having an autopilot a lot. I believe that within next couple years electric vehicles will become more mature as established automakers enter the market, hopefully with more polished and robust self driving solutions. I can lease an electric car and see where technology is in 3 years, but does electric car usually make financial sense for leasing?

for a few decades now the reliability of gasoline driven cars has improved. Making the choice of buying a litely used vehicle very possible. Any vehicle <20y old would function just fine. Find a used make model that fits your needs, there are thousands of models to choose from.
