Heard a LOT of bad rumors about this OS. I am very happy with Leopard, but if Snow Leopard is better then obviously ill pay the £25.

However, how long should I stick it out and not buy this? Wait for 10.6.2 and go from there, or bite the bullet and just go for it?

I just sorta need a time frame as I have asked for this for Christmas but if it's no good then I don't want my parents buying it me lol :p

Thanks :)

I have not had one issue with Snow Leopard on my Mac. Keep in mind that most problems with Snow Leopard have to do with 3rd-party applications. Make sure everything is compatible before you upgrade and everything should be fine.

Yeah, as long as you don't use any 3rd party applications, Snow Leopard is great.

Wait for 10.6.4. If you gotta get it for Christmas, have them wait as late as possible to order it, and try to get the 10.6.2 DVD so you avoid the data deletion bug entirely.

I think SL is just a more finished Leopard.
Frankly I love having SL for that reason alone.

??? Not had a single problem with SL or with third party apps. Maybe at first, but most have been updated and are working well now.

So many mixed messages lol :p its hard to know what to do.

For the time being ill probably ride it out and see how it goes at the end of november probably.

Can anyone tell me the advantages of leopard (not the ones off the Apple website, they make everything seem epic, i want real experiences!)

I complained about SL slowness, turns out I just needed a Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner and now I am happy.
As some one said, it is far more refined than Leopard and I would stick to it.
Besides all bug fixes are gonna come in SL, and very few in Leopard.

Like many of these threads (they seem to appear daily) my experience has been very good with SL. I have not updated the OS to 10.6.1 mostly because of the flood of issues from people who applied this and how apple quickly pushed this update through, seemingly too quick.

Anyways I think 10.6.2 which should be coming down the pike shortly will address some of the outstanding bugs in SL, though as noted, I've not really noticed any during my usage.
