I am a huge fan of watches - ever since I was a little kid. Always wanted one of those Casio watches all the cool kids had when I was growing up. When I saved up for years to afford my first Swiss Made watch - it was awesome, wore it for years and years. My wife bought me a nice Citizens watch early on in our marriage - wore that until the Apple Watch came out.

Never looked back. But... could not stand all the times my Watch bugged me. So I turned off all the notifications (set up a Favorites list that could bypass me for DND in emergencies) and that was the only way I could enjoy Apple Watch. 100% in silent mode, every single notification turned off, AOD off, it was there when I wanted it, not the other way around.

Taking my Apple Watch on 2 overseas work trips I was blown by how everyone exiting the aircraft had to sync their watches to the clock - while mine? Already had changed.

AW2 was mind blowing for me - I could easily get 3+ days of battery life out of it ( despite me putting it on the charger while I shower every day ). I'm a big guy so this watch matches my build very well.

I love mechanical watches. I just can't stand the inaccuracy - having to reset them, having to walk into a jeweler to get their batteries changed regularly (not as easy as it used to be), etc.

If you get the watch, hope you post your review and pictures. :D

Apple watch is not the answer if someone is unhealthy.

If you mean it's not a silver bullet that will make someone healthy simply buying it, then okay, true. But the ability of the watch to notify the wearer of medical conditions like dangerous heart rhythms and sleep apnea, to call for help if they fall, and to encourage more physical activity by gamifying workouts and promoting competition with friends -- I think it absolutely is a wise purchase or gift for an person with medical issues or who is living an unhealthy lifestyle.

You can’t quantify that it’s for unhealthy people…………lot of healthy appearing people drop dead……and if you are the supreme Jock that nothing fazes you, that Santos watch won’t be of any use on the slopes of Kilimanjaro………or laying on the side of a country road after a ghastly accident paralyzed you or in shock and cant move enough to reach for your cell phone. Only redeeming grace is that your Santos means saints in Spanish and that might trigger your worldly godless soul to realize the gravity of the situation and pray that someone in that crashed plane over the Andes could activate the emergency beacon on one of their Apple products.
Those mechanical watches will hardly ever be accurate to the second….10 seconds or more deviation a day is considered decent………….oh and let’s not delve into complications.
I’m a previous owner of a few dozen different Rolexes, Panerais, Omegas , IWC, Pateks etc etc. My dad’s love of watches was passed on to me. Sold off most of my 30+ watch collection within a year or two and never looked back .
Now you know the rest of the story…..
Ok ok…….if you like expensive jewelry and want to impress someone with your lifestyles of the rich and famous, that Apple ULTRA with the custom 24 K finish is not going to do the job.

Reactions: The Cockney Rebel
I saw a programme on TV a little while ago, a dating show, and the fella was wearing a Santos.

But you could see that he was really trying to show it off to the camera.

That has put me off of it.

I'm happy with my Apple Watch, and I'm getting used to the functionality it provides.

Hey people commenting here, you do realize that the OP, the cockney rebel, did NOT purchase a Santos but kept using Apple Watch right.

The comments above seem out of place.

I also remember Casio watches, when I was at school.

I had a couple. One used to have like 30 tunes on it, and the other had a "booster" clip on, that made the alarms etc VERY LOUD.

Also, I was addicted to Swatches at one point. Do you remember them?

I do love the look of the Santos, but I'm over it now. I'm very happy with my Apple Watch, and have just ordered yet another strap for it 😍.

Be well.
