TL;DR I think it's harmless. I had a look in my console, and sure enough had a couple of entries.

After some googling and futzing around in Terminal, these are apparently reports written by a daemon (i.e. a background process) called systemstatsd. It kicks off every now and then, to collect some statistics.

I was surprised to see that you can actually view the results in a human-readable format. Open a terminal and on the prompt, type:

$ sudo systemstats | less

It prints a pretty nice bunch of usage numbers on disk activity, wifi activity et cetera. My guess is, that it can be used to diagnose problems that occur in the field. For instance, suppose a customer brings in a MacBook Pro with the message that the battery life is terrible. Then the genius could take a look at this report. Under the header "ranked battery usage", it says for my 2016 15" MBP:

CPU Time: 00:06:53 (62.7%)
00:01:07 (10.2%) 97342 org.mozilla.firefox
00:00:57 (8.6%) 11882 com.crashplan.engine
00:00:56 (8.6%) 106 com.apple.sandboxd
00:00:33 (5.1%) 21717 com.apple.WindowServer
00:00:27 (4.1%) 2322 com.crystalidea.MacsFanControl

That's pretty interesting :)

So you have the same log files under system report in console?

I have deleted the log files now and I'll se if it pops up again.
