Right, when I am on the login screen to Mac OS X 10.4.11 and in the username box I type '>console' to access the command line then screen goes blue as if it was going to log into a normal account, but the switches straight back to the login screen after about 5 seconds. But I read on the internet that I may need to press enter to get into it, yet after I login and press enter (repeatedly) still nothing happens.
Yet, if I start up in single user mode and use the 'exit' command, it boots up the computer - and when I try the >console user this time and press enter after I press login, it loads the console screen, but only momentarily (for 3 or so seconds) then goes back to the login screen.
Does anyone know what I could possibly do so that I could use the >console user without having to boot into single user mode.
Thanks,
