Consolidated thread on the Space Black - Stainless Steel - Link Bracelet watch

Howdy guys, let's start with a few disclaimers,

1. I am aware that there is a thread on the Space Gray, Stainless Steel, Link Bracelet watch / orders. The purpose of that thread was not very explicit, and there were also comments on separate orders of the Link Bracelet (of the white one), cause certain combination would yield better overall shipping days. This thread is different and only concerns the space gray version of the link bracelet stainless steel version. As separate band purchase for this version is not possible, the scope of subject should be much smaller.

2. I am also aware that there is an excel spreadsheet created for the purpose of shipping status updates for proxying rough estimates for "processing" orders. And I know it gets accidental updates* a lot by interesting folks*. As of the most current revision* of that excel, sparse information on orders of this particular model remains.

3. Given the baseline delivery estimate of this model starting at 4-6 weeks for the very first orders, I hope this post could be a place where people who have purchased this model, or are interested in buying this model, could contribute or find some information that might help with the current purchase, or any future purchases from apple.

I have read some (a lot) of posts on watch order / delivery status updates, while part of me sees the irony of the fuss about a piece of consumer electronics without which lives had been perfectly okay, part of me find it hard to resist joining the hype and be part of this funny movement. So I will include information on my order of this model in a format that is easy to follow. If you happen to have ordered either the 38mm or the 42mm version of the Space Black, Stainless Steel, Link Bracelet watch, do submit information in a similar format that helps interested readers.

Quick update

I just realized that it should have been Space Black* that I meant. But given the context, I think this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I noticed you said your delivery time is 3-4 weeks. You are the first person I have seen for the Stainless Steel Space Black Link Bracelet that has had less than 4-6 weeks!

The delay has to be the DLC coating. Rather them take their time and get it right!
Yeah. In general the link bracelet ones are slower than other sport / watch models. And I agree a black version would take even longer.

I like the black color and have opted for black on a number of devices that they offer in space gray / black. In hindsight though, I was wondering maybe the regular link bracelet one might have been a better choice for the following reasons,

a) at least faster than black link bracelet;
b) no worry about chips or the band looking different after some use;
c) potentially more options for combination with other bands. (black stainless steel watch doesn't really go well with many other bands.)

But I don't know. :D

It is only an assumption I am making.

Most likely, all apple orders across the domain on store.apple.com/(whatever) would follow a unified order number that increases in numeric value the later you order.

That means all orders, be it laptop, accessory, would be pooled together.

I think within months there will be MANY band options available, some crappy but also some really nice. Time will tell!

Most likely it's going to be a while.

I believe many of you have already seen videos of water resistance demonstrations of various sorts.

While swimming with watch or submerging it in water didn't seem to do much damage at all, I guess the warrantee coverage posts would give some clues on the condensation in the heart-rate sensor.

While explicitly told by apple to be covered in the warrantee, I don't think many of you would want to swap for refurbished or wait for repair just because you can't wait to put it in water for a few minutes. :confused:

I think it would be a while before our orders gets any updates.

Other watch models that require less time to craft may be prioritized, naturally :(

Wow!! You ordered 1 min after me and you are in June?! I'm in Colorado!
I accidentally double ordered when pre-orders first went live and I ordered two Space Black models: one at 3:04 EST and the other at 3:05 EST. The one at 3:04 is May 13-27 (thank god) and the 3:05 was at June until I cancelled it. I was shocked it sold out so quickly!
