I, like a lot of people here, have been waiting impatiently for comparisons between the new MacBook Pro models ever since the patch came out. There were a few sites like AppleInsider, Macworld, and Barefeats that have been promising real world comparisons as well as three or four of the YouTubers that claimed to have all three of the 15" models. In fact Max Yurev claimed he had a video comparing all three of the models ready to go then the patch came out. He said to give him two or three days to redo the video with patches but it's been a week.

I'm just wondering if Apple hasn't been in contact with these people asking them to hold off any comparisons since they might not be working the way they should. All these sites and YouTubers had no problem at all turning around reviews and comparisons in a day or two... many with good real world test, not just Cinebench and Geekbench, but actually comparing render and batch processing times. Now all is quiet. I think it was even AppleInsider who released an article on Saturday for the 2.6 and then an article Sunday for the i9, promising a comparison on Monday which never came. I know it's only Tuesday but it just seems a little weird that we're still waiting a week after the patch and don't have any comparisons.

EDIT: Based on a tweet Barefeets will have their comparison out by tomorrow (Wednesday).

I had pretty much the same thought. All these YouTubers could get tens of thousands of views on such a post-patch comparison video since basically everyone not having ordered a 2018 Macbook Pro due to the lack of real world comparisons is waiting for it (me included). Baffles me why there is neither a video yet, nor a direct comparison on a blog, on Reddit, etc. Fingers crossed, Barefeet will come out with their comparison tomorrow.

I think you are more likely to get views by making a video to show a MacBook behaving badly (although this applies to many popular products, from headphones etc) than a video about a patch which has improved performance. I think the audience for seeing post-patch performance comparison is virtually non-existent.

Or maybe all these youtubers actually have a life outside of their channel and haven't finished reviewing/editing their videos.

That's one thought... but they make money based on views and they get more views if they are the first couple to post about the topic.

Yes but most have other day jobs providing their bread and butter that may interfere with the timeline. I would doubt there is a broader conspiracy theory that Apple is holding them back. And if they did, then oh well, I honestly consider all youtube reviews with a grain of salt.

Funnily enough, that’s exactly what he did in his comparison (saying Apple is ripping off people with the i9)

This is their day job for the top guys. They're all silent right now.
