Hi,

recently my MBP 16'' from 2019 has started to be annoyingly "loud". Even when not actually using it, the fans seem to be running and it's clearly noticeable. In the beginning it used to be completely silent. Now when I open it and just leave it on the desk for example — as soon as it wakes up the fans start running and never stop until I put it back to sleep. There are no processes running that use a lot of energy or cpu, but the fans just permanently keep running.

When I pick it up and move it around slowly I can hear a small rattling sound — probably coming from the fans as well. It sounds like they are not properly adjusted or something.

I am thinking of opening a support ticket before warranty runs out, but maybe someone here has a good advice before I do so.

Thanks in advance!

Yeh basically it's like that all the time. My fans seemed to be on for no reason whatsoever, I guess it's to do with the super hot Intel chips. Got so fed up with mine overall I sold it. I'm waiting for the MBP 16 M1/X version later this year, that should be super quiet in comparison.

They replaced mine 4 times before I finally got one that didn’t overheat and crank fans all the time. It took a whole year of returning it to apple engineering and months of waiting for new internals, over and over. Every time, the CS agent couldnt believe I’d had a problem with such a fine computer & had never heard of any problems with them at all. No upgrade option (to the graphics card that doesn’t have the problem) was ever offered. Meanwhile, this thread exists. Clearly it’s a problem. I’m glad the machine works as intended now, but it’ll be my last Apple computer.

Definitely get it in while its still under warranty, because they don’t stand behind their products after. They barely do during.

Thank you guys for the replies! However it seems to be a different issue. I didn't make that clear enough, sorry. Probably "noise" is the wrong word. It doesn't really sound like the fans are running at full power. It's not getting hot or warm either.

There just is a constant humming sound as soon as I open the Macbook (even when it's closed but still active). It has definitely not been like that at the beginning. It was completely silent, just like I used to know it from my former Macbook Pro.
