Hey guys,

I've run into a bit of a problem with my MacBook pro, I finally bought a external DVD drive since mine died out and wanted to try to update to snow leopard from 10.4.11. I wanted to stfart fresh since there was nothing of importance on my hd. Everything was going well and it told me I need to GUI partition my hd if I wanted to install snow leopard and every time after that I've had it freeze right when it begins to install. I've got a genius bar reservation on Friday but I wanted to see if there was somethig to do about is before then. Please any help would be much appreciated!

you could have bad sectors on your hard drive. Have you booted to the SL disc and partitioned it w/GUID partition table in disk utility?

Yeah that's the only way I boot it up, did one more try and I got the furthest but the installation said there was an error that occurred and just froze about 1/3rd the way of the progress bar.
