On many occasions after the installation of ios 17 on my iPad Pro, the only device I have on 17, I see constant spinning of the network activity gear. In the image it’s at the top right of the image below next to the cell strength bars. This is continuous and only stops when I exit Safari or the Kindle app. I have not seen this in any other app. The only way to stop this, other than not using those apps, is to restart the device, or occasionally force quitting them will work. But this eventually returns. I would assume there could be some battery impact with this constant activity but I don’t believe it occurs in the background, only when Safari or Kindle are active. Has anyone else come across this? I have submitted a bug report as I’ve never seen this in Safari before 17 although I have seen it occur in the past in the Kindle app.

Force quitting Safari resolves this temporarily but a few hours later it begins again.

Same, but no further theory on why or what’s exactly going on.
Thanks for replying. I’ve gotten no other replies on any forum that others are seeing this. In the current beta, Safari is infrequently doing this. When it does I clear/force quit Safari which stops it for a while. The Kindle app is not currently doing this. It’s odd that I’ve only seen this in those 2 apps. I see the spinner in Mail and other apps that are making a temporary connection to load or download some kind of data but stop once that process finishes. In Safari and Kindle it’s as if that process gets “stuck”, keeping the process going even when not needed. For me it’s only happening on my iPad Pro, not my phone, starting with the release of iOS 17.

This issue had also been happening on my wife’s iPad Pro in the Kindle app. I don’t think she was seeing this in Safari, and it’s not happening in Safari currently or in Kindle. It isn’t happening in Kindle for me either right now. Whether that’s due to the ios or a Kindle update I don’t know.
