Constantly losing wifi connection

Please help, I have the MBA 1.7/8gb/256 running 10.8.5 and it's constantly losing the wifi connection. No other household device is having issues staying connected and doesn't matter if I use my local ISP or tether wifi from a device.
I do not have apple care. Any suggestions?

Mine was doing this for a while. do you have latest firmware? I thought I did but actually did not. Once I have this it has been connecting just fine.
Do reboots help? I would have to reboot air and/or airport extreme.

I had this issue after one month of owning my 2013 MBA! I talked to tech support and it wasn't my MBA, but with the router. Bought a refurbished router and all has been great almost a year later!
