I'm saying, reviewers are not always self critical enough to know what they are doing wrong.

We still have reviewers using rangefinder cameras with one eye shut - 70 years after their invention. How many will put their hands up and admit being so goofy in this age of overnight internet instaexpert?

Today we have this YouTube qualified tech guru Linus giving his review of the MBP. He can't adapt to the keyboard. The human body can adapt to marathon running, weight lifting, living at high altitude, etc. But he can't adapt to a simple thing like a keyboard...so it must be the machine's fault.
You are acting like this is the first year that CR has tested computers. Running the same test, over and over, seems like a good way to gauge consistency.

If there is an error a non-Mac user can screw up a test like this, it would be NOT waiting for the indexing to be completed on initial setup. Hopefully they didn't make this rookie mistake.

Any day and every day may battery life is very good and consistent with a pair of 13" tMBP. At the moment I'm at 83.4% and showing 12:25 remaining, though I'll get more like 8-9 hours I think.

I wonder what's up with CR and their tests?

Yikes, Apple should have offered them more money to keep quiet. Greed.

"Consumer Reports states they cannot recommend the new MBP"

Of course not.
I can't imagine any subjective organization recommending this piece of _____.
The fanboys, koolaid drinkers and the Mac magazines will of course give it 5 out of 5 or 4.5 out of 5 starts but most people who just use it as a computer and not as something to put on an altar to be worshiped, will definitely not recommend this.

I'm sure the new MacBook pro's can get the job done but after waiting and waiting to replace my late 2012 13inch pro I find myself waiting for the next version of the 15 inch pro with touch bar - i respect consumer reports and hope my aging MacBook pro hangs on until the next round of updates/refreash- as much as I want to convince myself to buy I these stories keep coming and coming and this new consumer reports makes me think waiting is a good idea

I've been having battery life problems since I received my 15" MBP TB a month ago. Been dutifully following all the troubleshooting steps to try and improve things but seeing this report is what finally motivated me to call up Apple. There really is something wrong with some of the machines.

Weird, that's like the opposite finding of most people on this forum.

I cannot recommend this Consumer Report.
Most people have actually reported battery issues on MR, and that is under the 10 hours by some time.

Hmmmmm...

I think Apple will have to help those with issues or they will lose sales.

From your posts I have seen your very happy with your machine .

I assume you are running something like i stats , how much battery life do you get estimated when you are at 100%?

I personally see Apple reverting to last years chassis for the 2017 MacBook Pro. Its not like they have never done it before, remember the memory stick shuffle nobody liked?

Not gonna happen :)

You just described exactly how I work with my MBP! Every morning I put it on a pedestal, take my necklace made out of dongles and repeat my chant "Tim, Tim, Tim, May the House of Jobs and Ive shine through me, Schiller grant me Courage, Tim, Tim, Tim". After that I basically just drink koolaid until I pass out. It's part of the ritual. Then I open the piece of _____ MBP and load apple.com (via Touch Bar, of course, as it is mandated by the Second Book of Cook, Verse 26) and pray they make their computers (or should I say - artifacts) even more thin, more expensive and with less ports next year. Finally, I write out a check to Apple, because giving them money is the point of my life now. Yes. Also, sometimes I look at my body with disgust and think how I have too many ports on it. I may have some of them surgically closed.

Oh, and I create artwork, manage my art team and earn money with my MacBook Pro, money that I use to support my family. (By the way, either that or the previous paragraph is the truth - but I'll let you decide which one.)

If thinking I'm an altar worshiping, koolaid drinking fanboy gets you through the day, keep the delusion alive, I guess. Whatever helps you vent frustrations.

P.S. I'm not a reviewer, but I'm giving my MacBook Pro 5 out of 5 stars just for you!

I'm sure you all read this Bloomberg piece on why the battery life is not living up to expectations this time around. At least it implies that there is something better in the works.

1. There's always something better in the works, 2. There is probably some truth in that article, wrapped in thick layers of sensationalism, misinformation, not understanding how the industry works and sprinked with standard Bloomberg clickbait.
