Here is the article:
http://www.consumerreports.org/smartphones/battery-tests-find-no-chipgate-problems-in-the-iPhone-6s
Summary:
Continuous activity on the cellular network, +-2%
Browsing the Web and playing music, +-1%

My thought:
I agree the 3 tasks in these 2 tests are the most popular tasks and people use the most and longest time. Well, more tests can be made like 2D, 3D games, popular app like Facebook, taking photos and videos to have a more in deep result.
I didn't download geekbench as it doesn't bother me to know what's inside the phone. Unfortunately Samsung has taken a rap on this, maybe deservedly, but if there is a problem apple will replace it.

Whatever I have I am happy with the battery life. 28 hrs. standby, 3.5 hours usage @70%. At this rate I could get a full 8 hours from the battery.

That's good

So they tested the variance of processor related battery life with non-processor intensive tasks. Mmkay.

Yeah, I think these tasks especially websites browsing use cpu, but nothing close to 30% like geekbench did. This could be what most people do the most in daily life but this doesnt test the cpu intensive task at all.

It's not supposed to. Mobile processor architectures bank on the idea that the majority of the time, the CPU will actually be idle, and processor intensive tasks will only happen in short bursts. That the real world use-case for the overwhelming majority of people.

If you really do insist on trying to break that RSA 2048 encryption key using only your phone, then you'll just have to accept the fact that if you have a Samsung A9, you'll have to charge your phone more often while doing it.

If the test includes 4k recording then samsung chip should be way behind, but somehow 3d games battery performance are similar.

Exchanges make sense when you can demonstrate a real issue such as a bad screen or anything truly wrong...

That simply can't be true, what do chip gate people do now, this will create a great OCD issue.
I'm more than happy with my Samsung.

Already posted yesterday on the TSMC vs Samsung hilarious thread.
But you can bet haters will dismiss CR study as worthless.....

Didn't they say the same thing about bend gate lol

Anyhow I don't care about this gate just like I didn't care about the last one.

I wonder if when these people buy a house or car or even TV if they put this much effort into finding out who manufactures every component?

Could you imagine what an auto dealer would say if you took your car in and said you wanted a different transmission just because you don't like the plant yours was manufactured in?

These people need to get a grip and realize the sun doesn't rise and set on them.

It would be so great if they did a much more deep test.

Well most games are made to be compatible with most versions of the iPhone, so they aren't exactly processor intensive.

I wish they'd investigate the quality of the displays on these S's. Very hit and miss this year with uneven backlights, colour temp shifts and 'the blemish'.

I understand and there are few youtube showing playing games have same battery life for both chips. I would say for real life that 4K recording is the only thing that can see a clear different, and we are talking about recording 4K for the whole battery time.
