iPhone Contacts app consumes mobile data

Hey. I’ve noticed that I recently get the push notification that my data usage is being used up.
I looked it up and see that the contacts app consumes mine 5mb every 2-3 minutes. Ongoing for the whole day now.
Do you guys know a reason to stop this ?

Do you use it? Isn't the contacts app the same as the built in phone app (the green one)? I personally have mine uninstalled because I don't think I used it.

Good question. Same with FaceTime. You can uninstall the app but still use FaceTime in the phone app. Maybe it's because of some backward compatibility requirement? Not even confident Apple knows.
