Very weird issue, if i go to any contact (most are imessage related) inside the Messaging app it shows their email address not phone number, even if i click "edit contact info" it only shows me their email. Yet if i go to the "Contacts" app there is only 1 instance of the person so its not a duplicate issue, and their contact card shows all their info, address, birthday, phone number etc. This started with ios26 but I see no one else complaining about this. What is wrong?

Contacts inside Messages don't have phone numbers since ios26 upgrade

Accessing contact info within Messages app has always been a bit wonky but it's really bad in iOS 26. What's worse is some contacts are fine (shows phone number allows me to tap the phone icon to call them) while others are missing the phone number and the phone icon is greyed out, making calling them from within a conversation very inconvenient.
