I have a jailbroke 4s 5.01

This is my first iPhone so please bare with me.

I orginally synced my gmail account for my contacts (I had an android phone). Well anyway today I was messing around with settings and I didn't know what I changed, so I clicked Reset All Settings.

Well now my problem is if I go to my messages or phone, it shows the phone numbers and not their name. Yet all my contacts are still listed in the contacts menu with the names.

This is where things get confusing. Say I open up my messaging app, I'll see

(555) 555-5555

No name, yet in contacts that number is John Smith. If I click new message under John Smith, I'll get

John Smith

But I'll also have the old message list with just his number! So its like I'm having two convos. One with his name, and one with his number. Help?

You're not running a Verizon/Sprint iPhone without the SIM card that it came with, are you?

I never touched the sim.

also I just texted a friend, he texted me back. In the NC it showed his name, but when I went to the messaging app it was just his number....

If you have a Verizon iPhone, you can try dialing *228 and seeing if the reprogramming helps.

When you open your contacts from the phone or the contacts app what is in the top left? Is there a refresh arrow or something else? I had a problem where I had a couple different contact lists happening. I went there and did a resync. I just can't remember the process. But now mine is fine and I now have a refresh arrow instead of other options.
