contacts on iphone

I just got mobile me today and usually i used to sync my contacts via nuevasync
so i got mobileme up and running and synced my contacts
now on iphone i see contacts and then email addresses as contacts too.
so i resync it with itunes and remove sync with address book contacts in info of iphone so that just mobile me does all the syncing.
so now i have a heading on my iphone contacts
on my iphone with list of groups
and again under heading mac mobile me with list of same groups as above

I just want one list of groups under mobile me
any advice on how to get rid of all contacts n start fresh

in iphone settings i see under contacts default account is mac or on my iphone

i choose mac but still see on my phone group list

try this:

go the settings on your iphone- go the mail/contacts- go to your mobileme account.. uncheck contacts.. click delete.. wait... click contacts.. then hit merge.. see if that works.
