contacts to sim(iphone 4s)

Do the list of contacts automaticly go on to the sim or do i have to transfere them myself,i have a landline phone which i can load sim contacts onto but the contacts list has not loaded,how do i find out what contacts are on they sim.

You can import FROM a SIM card. But I know of no way to export to a SIM card using iPhone.
