Comparing my iPhone 7 Plus camera results in dim restaurant lighting to what my husband’s IPhone X can do, I think it’s worth it. I don’t know exactly how different the camera results are between and 8 Plus and an IPhone X, but going from the 7Plus to an X, there is considerable reduction in noise in indoor lighting for photos and video. I originally was not going to upgrade from a 7 Plus to a 2017 IPhone, but after seeing the camera differences, even if some people would say they are incremental, I think it’s worth it if it is in your budget. My husband loves Face ID. Everyone is different, it’s hard to predict if you’d like it.
I like reading this forum better on my 7 Plus than on an X. Not because of the notch, which I don’t even notice, honestly, but because the LCD display is a bit easier on the eyes than the OLED display which has a flicker most people can not see, but some people, especially those who are prone to migraines, can be sensitive to. My husband can’t detect the flicker and has no problem with his display. For everything else I’ve tried so far, I’ve preferred the display on the iPhone X. The 8 Plus has a beautiful display, though.
Wireless charging is nice. I have it on my Samsung S8+.
Good luck with your decision!
p.s. if you take a photo with an IPhone X in dim lighting, right off the photo is going to look too dark and look like a candidate for the trash bin. All you need to do is go into the Edit mode and lighten it up in there, which is a simple matter of making a selection and saving it. It’s so easy and the results are very good and have little to no noise. When I try doing the same thing with my 7 Plus, the photo will lighten up but it will be grainy and ugly.
