I want to get a good content blocker for ads/tracking for Safari on my iPhone and iPads. I purchased a license for Crystal Adblock over a year ago, though I do not currently have it installed on my devices; I'm not sure if it is still a good app for this? What are good solutions? I started looking into 1Blocker? What would you recommend?

Thanks.

There are many out there with most of them working fairly well. Plenty of free options like Firefox Focus or Adguard, for example, as well as various paid ones like 1Blocker or Purify, for example. There really isn't any particular ones that are necessarily better or worse as it's more about what works for you given the sites you visit and what you might be looking for in a particular blocker (in case there are some customizations or additional features or blocking that you might be looking for).

I use 1Blocker and seems to be very good at blocking, fast and doesn't take up much resources.

There's a mega thread on content blockers here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-9-content-blockers-mini-reviews.1918483/
Yeah, I would say most of the stuff from iOS 9 days would still more or less similarly apply today.

Adguard with simplified filters enabled has been the least problematic for me, that is, fewest blank or broken pages

Adguard is cool. 1Blocker gives me ads in the last month.
Now using AdBlockPlus the most popular here.

Just installed Adguard :)

Is there a way to block video ads on the YouTube app?

Not with regular content blockers that only work in Safari. You'd need something more on system-level like Adguard Pro, for example (or, in the case of YouTube, there might be a third-party YouTube app that can block ads, not counting YouTube's own Red service that allows for that, if I recall correctly).

I wouldn't know. I use ProTube instead.
I wil check it out, thanks!

I checked adguard pro and it says that it doesn't block ads in the YouTube app

I may need to check out Adguard now.

One benefit from Adguard is their developer is pretty active in the forums and seems very responsive to any requests and issues.

I've used Adguard for some time, and occasionally switched over to some other ones to try them out. More recently I've been using Firefox Focus.

Another for Adguard Pro! I just updated to an iPhone 7 from a 5, and that was one of the first new apps I downloaded. It's like night and day with ads! It even seems to help a bit with ads in the Facebook browser which had gotten really bad.

Adguard Pro will not work under the current IOS Beta due to IOS 10.3.2 Beta 1 breaking almost all VPN apps.

If you are not running the Beta, it is a good ad blocker.
