Continuing T-Mobile contract, 3GS free to sell?

Hey there,

i'm thinking about trading my 3GS in for an iPhone 4.
I have a contract with T-Mobile in Germany and like to prematurely continue it...

So how do i do that? Can i sell my 3GS after continuing the contract or will it be locked?

After all, T-Mobile does charge pretty steeply for these actions and i wouldn't/couldn't afford it without selling my current gear...
