Hi,

I've been looking for a good case for the iPod 5G (I have a 30gb white one). I like the idea of the InvisibleShield, but I don't trust myself to install it. I looked at the Contour cases, but I have two questions - first, are they good? Or do they actually scratch the iPod? And second, what's the difference between the Showcase and the iSee? Which one is better?

Also, if the Contour cases aren't good, then which cases would you recommend? I'm mainly looking for a case that will protect the screen and isn't too bulky.

Thanks.

I really enjoy the iSee for my nano. I've been using it for 4 months. It protects my ipod but the actual case does get scratched.

I'm not sure if the other case is any good. Try finding reviews on the case. It has helped me in the past. :)

The iSee is not bulky at all.

How scratched does the case get? If I was using a video iPod and I wanted to watch a video, would the scratches prevent me from looking at a good screen? Or are the scratches minor?

yeah, i also have the isee nano case.
2 complains though, first dust does get stuck in them. Second, it scratches.

but these 2 are minor and they are acceptable.
the scratch I don't think will interfere with the screen; it's like hair scratch.

I've bought the Showcase Video, which looks dead sexy on my 60 Gb black ipod. I've also recommended it to a friend who uses his 30 Gb to demonstrate mobile video content. After three months use there are some minor scratches, but nothing as yet that distracts from viewing.

Even when that changes, it's $40 Cdn well spent.

My only regret is that it is clear on both sides, so you can see all the scratches on the back.

I own both the iSee and the Showcase video for my black 30GB 5G and I like both of them. I think the Showcase is better than the iSee because the sides are made of shock absorbing rubber (not the sticky type that attracts hair and dust), which would save your iPod from drops, where the iSee would not and would simply snap in half, letting your ipod fall out onto the floor. Also the Showcase opens with a hinge so removing your iPod takes about 3 seconds, but the iSee is very hard to open with your bare hands unless you have long fingernails. The only advantages of the iSee are that it is smaller by a mm or two in every dimension, and depending on your opinion, looks slightly better. Neither case will scratch your iPod because they have little rubber pads on the inside to stop your iPod rubbing against the inside.
Overall I would recommend the Showcase over the iSee.

Also there is a good review of the Showcase on iLounge, incase you don't trust me. :p

Okay, thanks. I think I'll go with the Showcase. It looks a tad expensive, but I'm sure I can get a good deal on ebay.
