I understand that AT&T is offering contract free 3G IPhones in best buy stores, but anyway the Iphone is locked , do I'm right?

If yes, What is their intention for offering this?. Pay pretty expensive prices ($600 or $700) and just sign up for AT&T eventually Right?

Yup, just like the first iPhone, that we paid full price for, it is not unlocked. Just because you pay full price for it, doesn't mean that they have to let you use it on another carrier :)

I would actually prefer to pay a little more to have no contract ... Never know when you may wanna jump ship!

In that case, it'd probably be cheaper in the long run to buy the subsidized phone along with the 2-yr contract, use it as long as you want, and then pay the pro-rated ETF to cancel the contract when you're ready to jump ship.
