I really dislike how Control Centre blurs and darkens the entire screen when all the toggles and sliders are grouped together on the right side of the screen. I always use the volume slider in Control Center because I hate looking for the physical tiny volume buttons. So if I wanna change the volume Control Center just obscures my video. Changing the brightness is even worse since it’s really hard to judge by looking at a blurry video. Most of the times it takes me two or three brightness adjustments to get it just right.

I guess on the iPhone it’s okay because Control Center takes up the whole screen, but in iPadOS Control Center should be something similar to this mockup I made.

That looks much more appealing to the eye. Definitely something Apple should do in iPadOS 14!

They don’t do that because any exposed controls won’t work when control center is pulled down - you can’t press any buttons in the underlying app, scroll the screen in the underlying app, etc. So your proposal would cause people confusion when they try to keep interacting with apps while using control center.

It would be a fairly major change in the way the OS works to keep the underlying app responsive to screen touches at the same time as control center.

Previous versions of iOS didn’t blur the screen while viewing Control Center, it would only slightly darken everything, but as soon as you started changing the brightness it would temporarily remove that darkening. That was so much better than blurring the whole thing.

I would much rather they added more settings to control center for iPad than give me more things to see underneath it when I pull it down. Give me the ability to pick WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices for example . . add a shortcut to toggle VPN . . an alternate way to get into keyboard settings. Etc. etc. Heck, fill the space on the left with the home screen widget so that I can check my schedule and battery levels with one swipe from anywhere.

Yeah, that would be good too. At the moment there is just too much wasted space.
