Control in New Number?

This is kind of an AT&T question, but I was curious if you have any control over your new iPhone number like the last 4 digits or 3 different random numbers to choose from or is it just randomly assigned to you? What did you experience through your activation?

when i had signed up at the apple store for a familly plan they at least gave me two numbers that were similar (last 3 digits are different on our numbers)

but i dont knwo about changing it at the at&t... the people at apple said that they had no control over the number

When I first signed up with AT&T I had a choice of like 3-4 numbers that I could choose from. That's about all the control you have.

When i signed up with att last year when i got the original iphone, they gave me a bunch of choices. It was actually surprising how many choices i got.
