Remedy Entertainment has announced that Control Ultimate Edition will launch on Mac on February 12, 2025. The award-winning action-adventure game has garnered over 80 industry accolades since its 2019 debut, and two expansions in the intervening years have kept the franchise alive.

The Ultimate Edition includes the base game alongside its two major expansions, "The Foundation" and "AWE," plus all post-launch updates. Inspired by the new weird literary genre, the supernatural third-person action game puts players in the role of Jesse Faden as she explores the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control, wielding telekinetic powers and transforming weapons.

Remedy's announcement was spotted by Engadget during the company's Capital Markets Day presentation to investors. While specific Mac system requirements haven't been revealed, the game will presumably require an M-series chip to run effectively, given its demanding graphics and physics engine.

The developer also confirmed that work continues on Control 2, though no further details about the sequel were shared. Control Ultimate Edition previously launched on Windows PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, so this will be its first appearance on macOS.

Mac gets 2019 game ! 😂
At least it's a good game, and maybe devs are starting with low hanging fruits to see what sticks on the Mac.
Some studios are specialized in just converting games from a platform to another and that's a perfect place to start IMO. If they deploy too much effort and don't get their money back, it's going to be a problem.

The main problem is... if you wanted this game, you've already had 5 years to buy it. So you probably have it already. It's not like it's just a few months late.

It’s still a great game. It doesn’t really matter when games came out. Play the good ones. We don’t only need to play the newest games, just like we don’t only need to read the newest books or watch the newest movies. Multiplayer games might be different because interest in them typically wanes over time, but this isn't one of those.

Amazing game! I've already played it, so I won't be purchasing again. Hopefully, they will also release the macOS version on the Epic Games Store so that I can download it and try it out on my Mac.

Old game I haven't already played and heard good things about, so I might bite.

However, only if I can get it multiplatform. If it's an app store exclusive, hard pass.

Come on FromSoft release all your non playstation exclusives to the Mac/M chip iPads like dark souls and elden ring, you know you want to do it.

Well, I think that is true for single player games, like this one. The availability on Mac is still a major issue if you want to play a new multiplayer game with your friends. If you even get the game on Mac at all, your friends have moved on to other games by the time Mac gets it.

This is a really good game, BTW. Played it a few years back.

I think it's the way to go. Make the library bigger while slowly but surely add in more recent games

As a casual gamer, I find this strategy perfectly fine. The rest I'll play on my Steam Deck if I really want to.

Civ 7 will be coming to Mac and as far as I can see that's really the only upcoming title I'm excited for. 90% of new games either don't interest me of are rubbish

Great game, great atmosphere, good writing too. I'd be happy to play it again (except I'd skip over the AWE expansion.)

I have the Xbox version, but I prefer playing shooters with mouse & keyboard so I might be tempted by the Mac version, once I've upgraded to Silicon.

Great game. But already got it on Xbox and then on PS5 when it was made available on plus.

I've been gaming since the early 90's as a kid and so far, this game is definitely in my top 10. It's really good.

BUT, if you like gaming, don't punish yourself by waiting for games like this to finally get released on the Mac. Just get a Windows gaming PC, you'll love it. I love Macs, but gaming on Windows with fitting hardware is unbeatable.
